Erin Schaad

Erin is overjoyed to bring Village Yoga to The Village of Oak Creek, Sedona. She began yoga as a way to reverse scoliosis related pain nearly 20 years ago. After seeing what yoga could do, including reversing pain, slowing down aging, and just bringing a greater since of calm and purpose to person, she went on to study yoga and yoga philosophy with some of the most respected yoga teachers in the Western world. She earned her first 200-hour teaching certificate under John Salisbury of Modern Yoga, and then went on studying with great masters such as Sri Dharma Mittra and taking nearly 300 additional hours of training with Richard Freeman, long-time student of B.K.S. Iyengar and Sri Patthabi Jois, and Mary Taylor. In addition, she has a working knowledge of deep practice in Eastern Philosophy after studying with a preeminent teacher and author, for over 7 years.

Erin's practice and teaching style reflect what she has learned from her teachers - that there are certain aspects of yoga that are so important to keep alive in practice, which make yoga real yoga - a practice that can offer all the benefits that yoga has to offer and truly transform a person and help them reach their highest potential, like a key that can unlock a door. Her unique education background in both the physical and philosophical aspects of the practice create a truly effective environment at Village Yoga for this to happen.

Erin teaches vinyasa style classes that pull from her teachers' backgrounds in Iyengar, Ashtanga and Dharma Yoga, and within a few months of opening she will offer a led ashtanga class and mysore. She likes to give clear instruction in a lighthearted way so that students can fully integrate breath and alignment to achieve the most from their practice, and also feel comfortable while exploring poses. Erin has helped with leading teacher training programs in Sedona, and for the past few years has enjoyed offering workshops around the world. In her past time she loves spending time with her husband Nick and sheepdog Jaroo, and they are happily awaiting their little girl, who they expect to join their family in the fall!
