After recently graduating nine more Satya Yoga Instructors I am close to speechless, in deep awe. This is the 18th graduating class of Satya Soul Growth Academy, a 250 hour yoga teacher training that is SO MUCH more than a yoga teacher training. Over the years I have struggled to put into words the immensity that this nine month journey of personal transformation actually is. Each time I ask the grads how to articulate what the Satya Yoga immersion actually is. The most common response I receive is, “You just have to experience it to understand.” OK, but how does that help me explain it on the front end to others?
Let’s rewind back a couple of decades, where I was facing a much different kind of struggle. I suffered from anxiety, depression, ibs, insomnia, arthritis, panic attacks, back pain, brain fog, and a deep sense of disconnection from myself and life. Yep, you guessed it. Yoga. Yoga reversed ailments in my body that are inexplicable by western science. I had to know more. Insert a hard turn left from my SoCal “dream” life (business, travel, sunshine, ocean, fast paced), shifting to a healing arts college in Pennsylvania (slow paced, seasons, stillness, rust-belt) where I immersed myself into studying and embodying a holistic lifestyle, including yoga, energy medicine, meditation, and Ayurveda. During this period, I reconnected to multidimensional aspects of myself that I was previously unaware of or in some cases didn’t even know existed. This reconnection came mostly through the embodied breath of Ahimsa (compassion), meeting parts of myself with acceptance and love. What blossomed was a truer, more loving and authentic version of myself. Satya (truth) was born out of my own personal transformation and healing through my consistent love affair with yoga and now myself.
Still in PA, this awakening to Truth (Satya) led me to a chapter as the Holistic Operations Manager of a mental health non-profit. In this role I was in need of blending two sides together. The licensed counselors and therapists knew trauma, addiction, and mental illness well but didn’t understand yoga or a holistic model. The yoga instructors, energy workers, meditation teachers understood a holistic model but were not fully versed in trauma, addiction, or mental illness. Satya Yoga Teacher training combined the intelligence of both east and west.
Today, Satya Soul Growth Academy has evolved over the years through many iterations. The one constant, Truth, continues to be the deepest current. This magical journey of healing, growth, transformation, expansion, and reality shifts continues to be anchored in the embodied wisdom and philosophy of yoga, ayurveda, quantum physics, and a trauma informed approach to somatically meeting yourself deeply. This creation comes from the depths of my heart and touches the depths of the hearts to those who are called to discover and embody a deeper Truth within themselves. If you are already a yoga teacher, I promise you this is like no other program you have experienced. If you don’t want to teach yoga, I promise you this will change your life forever. Has the spark of yoga lit you up for the next chapter of expansion, awakening, healing and transformation? If so, Satya Yoga Immersion is for you. We begin again this fall.
What Truths has yoga given you? What undoing or unlearning has developed from your yoga practice? What does this feel like right now? When we lovingly guide the inquiry of Satya into our breath & body, a wonderland of inexplicable magic awaits to unfold before our very eyes. Just breathe. Breathe in the light of truth. Breath out the light of truth.
Namaste,
Soña
